Australia Post Arundel Parcel Facility

State-of-the-art parcel processing and distribution facility on the Gold Coast designed to support rapid e-commerce growth and modernise delivery operations in Queensland.

About
this Project

Australia Post delivered a new parcel processing and distribution facility at Arundel on the Gold Coast to support growing parcel volumes and improve operational efficiency across the region. As a high-throughput logistics environment, the facility required reliable internal traffic control to manage frequent heavy vehicle movements across multiple lanes while maintaining safe and uninterrupted operations. The project focused on implementing robust access control infrastructure to regulate vehicle movements, clearly define entry and exit points, and reduce the risk of unauthorised access within an active logistics site.

Project Details

The Challenge

The Australia Post Arundel parcel facility operates with continuous heavy vehicle movements across dedicated truck zones, requiring strict control of vehicle access and accurate visibility of site activity. Prior to the project, there was a need to prevent unauthorised vehicles from accessing active truck-only areas while ensuring that all trucks were correctly logged when entering and exiting the site.

Without clearly enforced access controls and automated logging, it was difficult to maintain consistent oversight of vehicle movements, increasing reliance on manual processes and limiting the ability to audit and track site activity accurately.

The Impacts

Uncontrolled access to truck zones and limited visibility of vehicle movements created safety and operational risks for end users across the facility. If left unaddressed, these issues had the potential to impact both day-to-day operations and compliance requirements.

The impacts included, or could have included:

  • Increased safety risk for staff and drivers operating around active truck zones
  • Reduced awareness of who was on site at any given time, particularly during peak operational periods
  • Limited ability to accurately audit and track truck entry and exit movements
  • Increased reliance on manual intervention to manage access and maintain records
  • Potential compliance and reporting gaps within a high-volume logistics environment

These risks highlighted the need for a reliable access control solution that could improve safety, awareness, and accountability without disrupting operations.

The Solution

A robust and practical access control solution was delivered using Enta boom gates installed across four vehicle lanes to control access into truck-only zones. Designed for everyday, high-cycle use, the boom gates provide reliable control of vehicle movements while supporting the accurate logging of truck entry and exit events.

To further enhance safety and awareness, high-visibility LED lighting was incorporated at access points to clearly define controlled zones, improve visibility in low-light conditions, and guide drivers through correct entry and exit paths. The solution was implemented to integrate seamlessly into daily logistics operations.

The Outcome

The installation of Enta boom gates and supporting LED lighting has significantly improved access control, safety, and visibility across the Australia Post Arundel facility. Unauthorised vehicle access to truck zones has been reduced, and truck movements are now clearly logged to support auditing, tracking, and operational accountability.

End users benefit from improved awareness and clearer guidance around controlled areas, resulting in safer interactions between vehicles and personnel. Overall, the solution has reduced safety risk, strengthened operational oversight, and supported a more controlled and compliant logistics environment aligned with Australia Post’s operational requirements.
