Greenslopes Private Hospital

A critical healthcare site requiring reliable, safe, and efficient vehicle access for patients, staff, and emergency services.

About
this Project

Greenslopes Private Hospital is a large, high-traffic healthcare campus serving patients, visitors, clinical staff, and emergency services around the clock. The site requires dependable vehicle access and revenue control systems that support continuous operation, minimise congestion, and maintain a calm, predictable arrival experience in an environment where safety and efficiency are critical.

Project Details

The Challenge

The hospital’s existing parking and access control system had reached end-of-life, resulting in significant revenue leakage and increasing administrative burden for on-site staff. Frequent system faults and unplanned outages led to repeated service callouts, driving up maintenance costs and disrupting daily operations. With unreliable equipment and limited visibility over transactions, staff were left managing ongoing issues manually, creating consistent operational headaches across multiple departments.

The Impacts

The limitations of the legacy system had a compounding effect across both hospital operations and parking management. Revenue leakage reduced the effectiveness of parking as a self-funding service, while ongoing system instability increased operational costs and diverted staff time away from higher-value tasks.

Key impacts included:

  • Lost parking revenue due to unreliable transaction processing and limited reporting visibility
  • Increased operational costs driven by frequent breakdowns and repeated service callouts
  • Administrative strain on staff, who were required to manage faults, overrides, and customer issues manually
  • Reduced reliability for visitors and patients, leading to frustration at entry, exit, and payment points
  • Limited system insight, making it difficult for the hospital to accurately track usage, performance, or long-term trends

Together, these issues created an inefficient and reactive parking operation that no longer aligned with the hospital’s need for reliability, accountability, and uninterrupted service.

The Solution

To address the operational and financial challenges, a complete replacement of the legacy parking system was undertaken with the deployment of the Codex System across the site. The solution was designed to deliver reliable performance, improved revenue control, and simplified administration while operating seamlessly within a live hospital environment.

The new system was implemented across seven vehicle lanes, supported by two modern paystations, providing consistent and dependable access for patients, visitors, and staff. Built for high-availability sites, the Codex platform delivers stable transaction processing, improved system visibility, and significantly reduced reliance on manual intervention.

The upgrade was carefully staged to minimise disruption to hospital operations, ensuring continuous access throughout the installation period while transitioning the site to a more resilient, future-ready parking operation.

The Outcome

Following the implementation of the Codex System, Greenslopes Private Hospital now operates a stable, efficient, and transparent parking environment aligned with the demands of a busy healthcare campus. Revenue leakage has been addressed through reliable transaction processing and improved system oversight, restoring confidence in the parking operation as a controlled and accountable service.

System reliability has significantly improved, reducing breakdowns, service callouts, and associated maintenance costs. Hospital staff benefit from simplified administration, fewer operational interruptions, and improved visibility over day-to-day performance, allowing them to focus on core responsibilities rather than reactive issue management.

Overall, the upgraded solution has delivered a calmer, more predictable parking experience for patients and visitors while providing the hospital with a future-ready platform capable of supporting ongoing operational needs.
