St Germain Central, Clyde

A vibrant new mixed-use retail and community precinct in Melbourne’s southeast, developed by Gill Family Corp and built by Hutchinson Builders, providing residents and visitors with a modern shopping, dining, health and lifestyle destination.

About
this Project

St Germain Shopping Centre is a modern mixed-use retail and community precinct serving the rapidly expanding Clyde North area in Melbourne’s southeast. Developed by Gill Family Corp and constructed by Hutchinson Builders, the centre was designed to support everyday shopping, dining, and essential services while providing a safe and well-managed parking environment for both daytime and after-hours use.

Project Details

The Challenge

As a new mixed-use retail and community precinct, St Germain Shopping Centre needed to ensure its parking and access strategy would support both daytime retail activity and after-hours use from the outset. With a diverse mix of tenants and extended trading hours, the risk was that unrestricted access could lead to misuse of the carpark outside normal operating times.

In addition, without clear parking guidance in place, visitors could experience difficulty locating available spaces during peak periods, impacting circulation and overall customer experience. The challenge was to implement systems that provided clear wayfinding, protected the site after hours, and could adapt to the centre’s evolving operational needs as the surrounding community continued to grow.

The Solution

To address parking guidance and after-hours access requirements, an integrated solution combining Cirpark Biology and Aero boom gates was implemented across the site. The Cirpark system provides individual bay detection across 139 parking bays, giving visitors clear visual guidance to available spaces and reducing unnecessary circulation within the carpark.

To support security and controlled access outside of trading hours, five Aero boom gates were installed to manage vehicle entry and exit when the centre is closed. This ensures authorised access is maintained while preventing misuse of the carpark after hours.

Together, the solution delivers a balanced parking environment that supports efficient daytime operation and secure after-hours control, aligned with the centre’s mixed-use requirements.

The Outcome

With the Cirpark Biology system and Aero boom gates in place, St Germain Shopping Centre now operates a parking environment that is both intuitive for visitors and secure outside of trading hours. Customers are able to quickly locate available spaces during busy periods, improving circulation and creating a smoother arrival experience.

After hours, controlled access protects the site from unauthorised use, supporting tenant security and reducing operational risk for centre management. The combined solution ensures parking functions as a reliable support to the centre’s retail and community activity while remaining adaptable as the precinct continues to grow.
