Unlike the Rapid Ramp Controller, which operates on simple time-based sequencing, the Greybox Controller enables advanced logic and conditional control tailored to individual site requirements. It processes multiple detection inputs and operational states to manage traffic dynamically, allowing sophisticated sequencing and decision-making without reliance on cloud connectivity or online portals. This makes it ideal for environments where reliability, configurability and standalone operation are critical, and a configurable counterpart within our wider internal traffic signal systems.
Arcos Traffic Light
The Arcos Traffic Lights are industrial-grade traffic signal heads designed for reliable operation in internal roadways, ramps and controlled access environments. Engineered for high visibility and durability, these signal units provide clear red and green indications that are easily understood by drivers in all lighting conditions. Echo Radar Sensor
The Echo Radar Sensor is a non-intrusive vehicle presence and detection solution designed for traffic signal and access control applications where reliability, directionality and ease of installation are critical. Using radar-based detection, the sensor accurately identifies approaching and stationary vehicles while allowing directional filtering to ensure only valid vehicle movements trigger the system. As a modern alternative to traditional inductive loop detectors, the Echo Radar Sensor eliminates the need for pavement cutting or civil works, significantly reducing installation time, disruption and ongoing maintenance. Its flexible mounting options and consistent performance in varied environmental conditions make it ideal for ramps, access lanes and internal roadways where precise, dependable vehicle detection is required.
Other Detection Options
In addition to radar-based detection, a range of alternative vehicle and user detection options can be integrated into the system to suit specific site requirements. These include inductive loop detectors embedded in the pavement, push buttons for manual or pedestrian-initiated calls, remote controls for authorised or on-demand activation, and interface triggers from external systems such as gates, doors or access control devices. How It Works
The Greybox System operates using programmable, site-specific logic rather than fixed time sequences, allowing traffic control behaviour to adapt to real-world conditions. Unlike the Rapid Ramp System, which runs on a predefined priority cycle, Greybox continuously monitors vehicle presence and system state to determine when and how traffic signals should operate. This enables the system to remain dormant when no vehicles are present, only activating signal control when a valid detection occurs.
When triggered, Greybox executes the appropriate programmed sequence based on the site’s operational rules. This can include activating red signals to stop opposing traffic, dynamically adjusting clearance times, or switching traffic priorities based on the time of day, such as outbound priority in the morning and inbound priority in the evening. On-demand logic allows the system to respond quickly when vehicles are waiting, reducing unnecessary delays when ramps are clear. With its PLC-based architecture, a wide range of additional functions and sequencing options can be programmed, ensuring the system is precisely matched to the site’s traffic patterns and safety requirements.
